Chelsea leading top six race to sign top Serie A midfielder due to choice of coach for next season

The Premier League top six have taken their battles off the pitch after the Times reported that all six teams are chasing after Napoli’s Jorginho.

The top summer target for all the top clubs in England has been attracting interest from other leagues as well after his convincing displays at the heart of Napoli’s near-record breaking season.

The Brazilian midfielder has been the spark in the middle of the park for Maurizio Sarri’s side after he played the entire season there, stringing passes together and connecting his teammates up the field to find the goals that made Napoli one of the most feared sides in Europe.

According to the Times, Manchester United, City, Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool and Arsenal are all interested in him but it is Chelsea who have the edge as per the Metro, due to Sarri’s imminent arrival at Stamford Bridge to replace Antonio Conte.

That would not soften the financial blow of signing him though, as the report says the Italian club will demand £53 million from any suitor.
