Antonio Conte given tiny boost on future after main Chelsea target begins contract renewal talks with current club

Antonio Conte will be pleased to hear one of the main targets Chelsea were working on replacing him with has entered a contract renewal talks with his current club according to Mirror.

The Italian manager has seen his stock fall drastically at Chelsea after he failed to get his side into cup winning positions except for the FA Cup final, which would take place this weekend against Manchester United.

Chelsea are fifth on the league table and crashed out of the Champions League in the round of 16, prompting calls by fans for his head. But Conte had remained adamant he will remain at Chelsea next season, according to Independent.

But that did not stop the rumors from picking up pace that Napoli Boss Maurizio Sarri was in line to replace him, as per Football Italia, but fresh reports now by says Sarri would begin negotiations over a deal and that would be a blow to the Blues top hierarchy.

This will buy some time for Antonio Conte though, as it proves most of the targets the Blues are working on are currently either taken by a club or country, or just not willing to move from their current clubs.
