£40m Chelsea target not concerned about missing out on Champions League football

Chelsea’s failure to qualify for the Champions League will inevitably limit the level of player they can go for.

The world’s best players simply don’t want to miss out on the glory and the exposure of playing in the most prestigious competition around.

Luckily for Chelsea, it seems that one of their summer targets isn’t too bothered, given he’s not even playing there at the momment.

Jean-Michael Seri, according to the Daily Mirror, is closer to a Chelsea move than one to Arsenal, who are rivalling the Blues for his signature.

Neither of the two London clubs will be in the Champions League next season, so clearly Seri is not holding out for Barcelona to reassert their interest from last summer.

With the Mirror claiming Nice have put a reasonable price tag of £40m on the Ivorian at £40m, it’s not out of the question that Chelsea will be able to beat off Arsenal’s threat and tie up a transfer before the World Cup.
