People believe what they want to be true, and at this stage of the season it turns out that what Chelsea fans want to be true is that Tiemoue Bakayoko is going back to Monaco.
That was what was suddenly reported on WhoScored today, but it doesn’t take much to figure out why that’s nonsense.
Their source takes you to “the National“, a publication from the United Arab Emirates. The journalist there simply declares that Monaco are interested in resigning the midfielder, without providing any shred of source or evidence.
It would be a real coup for the Blues if they could persuade Bakayoko’s former club to take him back, but unfortunately, until a source with a little more cloud takes up the story, it will remain wishful thinking for the time being.
The summer window is long though, and there’s plenty of chances for something more tangible to emerge.
