Revealed: Chelsea midfielder given unexpected World Cup boost

Ruben Loftus Cheek was included in England’s squad for friendlies against Germany and Brazil before Christmas, and performed very well in the first game before coming off hurt in the second.

It’s been the story of his career, and this season, for Ruben. Excellent spells broken up by injury that prevent him from finding any consistency.

He’s been excellent for Crystal Palace this season, either side of an injury that wiped out the middle of it.

It looked as though his World Cup dreams were dead despite his impressive friendly performances thanks to that injury.

However, despite the spell out, the Daily Mail claim that the forward will be taken to Russia by Gareth Southgate this summer if he’s able to play out the rest of Palace’s season without any problems.

Given it’s possible that no other Chelsea player will be in the team, you can count on the fact that Blues fans will be watching every Eagles game with great hope from now till the end of the season.
