£35m Chelsea fringe player will push for a move away from Stamford Bridge next summer

Danny Drinkwater may be pushing for an exit route out of Chelsea after this season following his continued bench role under Antonio Conte, per the Guardian.

The England midfielder has become a fringe player at Stamford Bridge after he was signed from Leicester City for a fee of £35m last summer. The promise was that he would reignite his partnership with N’Golo Kante while both players were at the King Power stadium.

That combination in the middle of the park is yet to be seen at Stamford Bridge and Drinkwater will apparently look to cut short his stay at the club and move for more minutes under his belt.

He has struggled to fight for a place in the starting 11 with the likes of Tiemoue Bakayoko and Cesc Fabregas.

It’s not all been Conte’s fault wholly though, Drinkwater has been out of the squad mainly this season due to his injury problems. He spent almost three months out after he signed for the Blues, with an ankle injury and has been in and out of the team following niggling injuries.
