“Christensen is a good example…If I go back, my plan is to play” – Chelsea’s on-loan star wants to emulate Christensen when he returns to Stamford Bridge

Chelsea on-loan star Kurt Zouma has been enjoying game time at Stoke City since his summer switch to the Bet 365 stadium last season, but wants to return to Chelsea next summer, to play regularly.

The France international had huge promise at Chelsea and was once a first team regular at Stamford Bridge. Injury to his knee ruled him out for months and upon return, Chelsea had signed a few notable players in his position. Antonio Rudiger had come in and Andreas Christensen had returned from his two-year loan spell at Borussia Monchengladbach.

With game time short on supply at Chelsea, Zouma sealed a one-year loan deal with Stoke but had committed the next six years of his future to Chelsea.

Having played 26 times in the Premier League this season for Stoke City and featured an extra three appearances in Cup competitions, Zouma is having a good time.

However, he wants to make sure he returns to Chelsea a better player capable of playing every game for the Premier League champions.

“If I go back, my plan is to play. That will all be decided at the end of the season because my focus is with Stoke. After that I hope to go back to Chelsea and play. They gave me a chance to go on loan and I spoke with the manager (Antonio Conte), who agreed with that and they helped me a lot from my injury and to find a club where I can play all the time. Everyone knows I am here for one year and then I’ll go back.

“Christensen is a good example because he went on loan and played in Germany, and he’s come back and he’s a big part of the team now”
