Chelsea and Manchester United in battle for high scoring European striker

Chelsea and Manchester United will battle it out for Paris Saint Germain forward Edinson Cavani next summer with the striker seemingly available, according to Le Parisien.

The Uruguay international has not looked himself on the pitch for PSG the entire season, and it’s due to the power play with Neymar, after the Brazil hotshot was brought in last summer.

Their penalty argument last year caused a lot of stir in the PSG dressing room, and although calm seems to have been restored, Cavani feels a bit uneasy with the arrival of Neymar and sees him as a threat for top striker position.

Chelsea have been largely unhappy with the input of Alvaro Morata since he was signed from Real Madrid last summer to replace the combative Diego Costa. Morata has looked uninterested at times and has most importantly not been on a scoring spree lately, like he started the season. He is on a 12-game scoreless run and if it continues Chelsea will reach out for another striker, most likely Cavani.

But the Blues face competition for Cavani’s services from Man United who also want good options upfront and adding Cavani to Romelu Lukaku will serve that purpose.
