Chelsea fans breathe sigh of relief as Roman’s friend takes over Dutch job

Chelsea fans are celebrating a managerial appointment at a club in Holland.

Sound weird? It is a little bit, but when you add the pieces together it makes much more sense.

The Blues are set to get rid of Antonio Conte at the end of the season, and as we’ve seen before, Roman Abramovich isn’t afraid to put one of his mates in charge.

In the past that’s been Avram Grant and Guus Hiddink, but many feared that this time it could be Leonid Slutsky.

However news has broken today that the former Hull manager has now been given the reins at Vitesse, the Dutch club affiliated with Chelsea.

While we all wish the former Russia manager well, we’re pretty glad that the club are aiming a little bit higher this summer than a sacked Championship manager to replace the mighty Antonio Conte.

Still, with plenty of Chelsea youth on loan there, Leonid’s progress will still be very important to Blues fans.
