Emerson Palmieri prepares for debut

The last of Chelsea’s January signings is ready to make his debut.

Emerson Palmieri arrived from Roma to back up Marcos Alonso, and the Italian wing back has yet to set foot on the pitch for Chelsea.

Yesterday was his perfect chance, with Alonso missing through injury, but once again Palmieri was on the bench. Clearly Antonio Conte doesn’t consider him ready for the field yet.

That chance will hopefully come this weekend in the FA Cup, which seems a great spot to drop the talented former Palermo man into action.

Hull won’t offer much in attack, and Blues fans will finally get to see their new signing’s potential in attack.

With Alonso potentially missing out against Barcelona, Emerson could even be needed at the deep end next midweek. Whether he will be able to play Friday-Tuesday is another question entirely, but it seems unlikely given how little playing time he has under his belt this season.
