Chelsea’s win against West Brom yesterday not only was vital for the club’s league position, it could be a catalyst that gets the Blues back on track for some silverware.
After Manchester United had dropped points against Newcastle over the weekend there were no shortage of people pointing out how vital three points could be for the Blues in the chase for the Champions League.
But what fewer people have considered is the FA Cup tie coming up this Friday.
Chelsea face Hull, and with a win and a little confidence regained they can go into that game and expect to win. In a couple of weeks they are likely to be out of the Champions League, and then they will be left with only the cup as a potential route to glory this season.
It wouldn’t be much, but it would be a damn sight better than getting nothing at all.
