Cesc Fabregas stakes his claim for Barcelona start with superb showing

Given he will likely rotate heavily against Hull in the FA Cup, Antonio Conte will likely pick his team for the Champions League tie against Barcelona based on the game we just saw against West Brom.

Tiemoue Bakayoko was suspended after getting a red card against Watford in the last match, and his replacement Cesc Fabregas shone in midfield. He had 113 touches, far more than anyone else in the team, and had a pass completion of 88.9% as he ran the game from midfield.

Conte will almost certainly revert to a two forward formation against the Catalans, and Cesc will have the chance to shine against his former club with two other central midfielders doing his running for him.

It’s a brilliant opportunity for him to remind everyone he can still cut it at the top level, and Chelsea will need him at his absolute best if they are to get past their old rivals in Europe.
