Revealed: The staggering amount Chelsea paid to Ross Barkley’s agent to complete deal

Chelsea spent about £22 million in signing Ross Barkley from Everton this month according to multiple reports.

The midfielder had spent the entire first half of the season on the sidelines at Everton due to a severe hamstring injury he incurred last term. Barkley was tipped to miss a chunk of the season but has began first team training at Chelsea.

The England international has grown in stature in the Premier league and become one of the most coveted midfielders but Chelsea managed to grab him from the sights of Tottenham Hotspur, who were favorites to land him at some point last summer.

According to Metro Sport, Chelsea had to pay more than the quoted £15 million for the former Toffees man. The Blues paid his agent a staggering £7m to convince his client to switch to Stamford Bridge.

Still, the deal represented a huge step investment considering the Premier League champions almost paid £35 million for the midfielder last summer.
