It was looking as though Alexis Sanchez was on his way to Manchester, but events in the last 24 hours have changed all that.
Firstly it was reported yesterday that Manchester City had pulled out of the deal over Arsenal’s demands. Now the idea that Henrikh Mkhitaryan would go the other way from United is a potential stumbling block.
The Times have quotes directly from Mino Raiola, who says that Sanchez is “part of the Mkhitaryan deal, not the other way round”.
That all means that what was previously looking like quite a simple deal has suddenly become a lot more complicated. Getting both players to agree a move as well as sorting out the fees between the clubs could make a deal hard to conclude.
If they want to, this could be Chelsea’s chance to swoop in and make an offer of their own, which Arsenal can take or leave without the complication of exchanging players.
