Chelsea loanee sees success and failure within days of arrival

Chelsea loaned out Jake Clarke-Salter this week, and the defender has had a pretty mixed time since.

On the plus side, the youngster was thrown straight into the action just days after signing. Sunderland brought him in because he could play in their back three after training in that system all year under Antonio Conte in the Chelsea first team.

On the downside, his new team struggling Sunderland, were smashed 4-0 by Cardiff. There’s a good reason that it was so easy for the youngster to walk into the team.

Still, regardless of whether Sunderland manage to survive in the Championship this season, it looks as though the 20 year old will be getting plenty of chances in the first team, and will have plenty of defending to do.

Izzy Brown and Kasey Palmer’s Premier League loans haven’t worked out this season for various reasons, but JCS is already showing the benefits of moving to a team that is in desperate need of quality in the first team.
