Chelsea given three huge boosts for Arsenal game

Chelsea face Arsenal on the 3rd of January, and the Blues are stacking up the advantages already.

Firstly, they played on Saturday, while Arsenal played yesterday. That one day extra rest makes a huge difference in this hectic part of the calendar, where every hour maters in terms of recovery.

Secondly, Chelsea were able to rest key man Eden Hazard in their game. They thrashed Stoke 5-0 despite leaving the Belgian on the bench. Even Alvaro Morata and N’Golo Kante got a break as they were taken off early in the second half.

The third advantage comes in the form of Arsenal’s team news: the German missed last night’s game against West Brom with a knee injury, and apparently has “little chance”  of being fit for the game against Chelsea.

Perhaps the one area of Antonio Conte’s year and a half at Chelsea that you can criticise is his record against the Gunners. He now has the perfect opportunity to fix that.
