“Passionate” Chelsea boss set to bring in Eden Hazard replacement according to former player

Former Chelsea defender Marcel Desailly is confident the club can survive the departure of their star player, if it comes down to it, and that the big man upstairs (Roman Abramovich) would be willing to stump up the necessary cash.

Eden Hazard has been brilliant this season for the Blues, but rumours persist about his future as the Belgian still has not signed a new deal.

This has lead to speculation that he may want a move to Real Madrid, to link up with his idol Zinedine Zidane.

“We will be sad if Hazard has to go but I am sure that Roman Abramovich is still passionate about the club. He will bring in another player that can allow the club to be at the same level again,” Desailly said when interviewed by Goal.com.

It’s nice to hear someone speak positively about Chelsea’s future in the transfer market. There’s plenty of doom and gloom from fans, who generally think that if Hazard goes the season is all but a write off.

Replacing Hazard wouldn’t be easy. The attacker would fetch a colossal sum if he was sold now, but if the club wait until he’s into the last year of his contract that fee will begin to fall.

As for players to buy as a replacement – that’s another question altogether.
