Antonio Conte has once against refused to answer questions about David Luiz and his future at Chelsea, insisting in his pre-match press conference yesterday that “now is not the right time to get into that”.
The manager has faced a variety of questions about the defender’s future in recent weeks, and has shown flashes of annoyance about the line of questioning, especially before the Newcastle game last weekend.
Today he was prepared, and simply brushed off the inquiry with the line given above.
It’s not the full denial you might expect, but Conte doesn’t give up much on these matters, and rarely speaks openly about the transfer situations at the club, almost always deferring and saying that it’s all down to the people working above him in the hierarchy.
Luiz is currently out with a knee injury, and Conte confirmed that while he wasn’t sure how long the issue would continue, the defender will not be available to face West Ham tomorrow.
