New superclub emerges as suitor for David Luiz in January

Another club has emerged as a contender to take David Luiz on loan or a permanent transfer in January.

The Brazilian lost his place in Antonio Conte’s team in October after the 3-0 defeat against Roma, and has since started only once, in a rotated team against Qarabag.

The defender is currently suffering from a knee injury, which has kept him sidelined since then, but there’s plenty of speculation that the reasons he’s missing out are down to a breakdown in relations with manager Antonio Conte as much as the knee issue.

Real Madrid were the last club to supposedly be interested in signing the Brazilian, but now Juventus have joined them, according to reports in yesterday’s Daily Mail.

It does seem unlikely a January move would be sanctioned, and given the defender would be cup tied in the Champions League it wouldn’t make much sense for Real or Juve either. However come the summer, if things haven’t changed, a move seems much more likely.
