Chelsea have reviewed season’s objectives and Thibaut Courtois has revealed their main ambition

Chelsea won again last weekend against Premier League opposition despite falling behind in the chase for the title. This will however not stop them from fighting to keep hold of the trophy they won a few months ago according to Thibaut Courtois.

The Blues have almost surrendered the title race to Manchester City who now lead by 14 points with still more than half of the season left to run. The Premier League champions were victors against Southampton, courtesy a brilliant free-kick goal by Marcos Alonso late in the first half.

Four defeats this season to Burnley, Crystal Palace, Man City and the latest coming against West Ham, has dragged Chelsea struggling to catch up in a title race Pep Guardiola and co. have stolen the march on.

Following Chelsea’s win over the Saints on Saturday, goalkeeper Courtois insists his side will keep fighting until the final day of the season, with runners up position their main target now.

It’s important to try to keep on winning and pushing forwards.

At the moment City is winning. They are far ahead. But you never know in football. You can have a bad month, three or four games you lose, you lose points. We have to be there winning our games, to maybe have a little chance. The season is still long.

Our main goal, if we cannot be champions, is to be second. We have to keep on winning.

Thibaut Courtois, Evening Standard

Man Cityhave been on a stunning 16-match winning streak that has left the other title rivals all clutching at dust at the top of the Premier League standings this campaign.
