Chelsea to loan Belgian forward away this January

Chelsea are reportedly planning to sanction a loan deal for Michy Batshuayi this January, accoriding to The Sun.

Antonio Conte’s second-choice striker Batshuayi wants to increase his chances of playing for Belgium’s national side in next summer’s World Cup in Russia. The 24-year-old is currently at risk of losing his role as Romelu Lukaku’s back-up striker in the national team due to his low amount of playing time under Conte, and needs to get first-team football in order to make the needed change.

Last season Batshuayi was handed just one Premier League start during the whole season, with Diego Costa’s superb form keeping the former Marseille man on the bench. This term his situation hasn’t really changed at all, with summer signing Alvaro Morata leading the Blues’ front-line with impressive performances.

Chelsea have thus allowed Batshuayi to seek himself a loan move till the end of the season, and are planning to sign a replacement for him during January’s transfer window.
