Barcelona and Real Madrid to battle for Chelsea’s Brazilian superstar

Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona are closely monitoring the situation of Chelsea defender David Luiz, after the center back has been sat on the bench in recent games by Antonio Conte due to a rift in training a few weeks ago.

Andreas Christensen has been preferred by Conte at the heart of Chelsea’s defense this season with Luiz relegated to the bench. This developed after reports had it that the Brazilian defender was involved in a row with his head coach in the aftermath of Chelsea’s 3-0 defeat to AS Roma, when Luiz questioned Conte’s tactics in that Champions League game.

Now Don Balon in Spain, quoted by the Tribuna, says Barcelona have joined Real Madrid in the chase for Luiz and will battle it out for his signature next summer.

With Luiz’s future at Chelsea looking more and more gloomy, the top European clubs are interested in making him a priority defensive signing in 2018.

He only returned to Chelsea for a second time last year after he was sold to Paris Saint Germain in 2014 after a fallout with Jose Mourinho.
