Antonio Conte faces big dilemma ahead of League Cup tie against Bournemouth

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has admitted that he’s facing a major dilemma with his team selection ahead of the Blues’ Carabao Cup clash against AFC Bournemouth next Wednesday.

Chelsea seem to find no end to December’s hectic fixture schedule, as the Blues are preparing to play yet another pair of games inside just one week’s time. After winning Southampton 1-0 at Stamford Bridge in Premier League’s gameweek 18 clash last night, the sights are now being turned to the English League Cup – the Crabao Cup.

Chelsea are expected to line up a very rotated side for the quarter-final game at the Bridge, as several key players are in big need of rest. But with a place in the semi-finals at stake, Conte stresses that the most important thing in the game is to get a result.

“I want to continue to give the chance to players that are not playing with regularity. I want to continue this way, but at the same time we want to reach the semi-final.”

The Cherries are currently in a five-game winless run, so even if Conte decides to select a very weakened side, Chelsea could still be seen as strong favourites for the tie.
