The Premier League attacker Jamie Redknapp thinks Chelsea should regret losing, and it’s not Lukaku and Salah

Chelsea have been a lot better in the last two seasons than they were the season before that, with player transfers being the one trouble for Antonio Conte since he took charge.

But what perhaps may be soothing for Conte is that this problem did not start under him. Chelsea have a culture of losing players with talent and quality alike as did happen under Jose Mourinho in his second stint in charge of the club.

They sold Kevin De Bruyne, Mohamed Salah and Romelu Lukaku without considering the patience factor and as the potential of these players showed some three seasons after they were discarded.

Now playing for Manchester City, United and Liverpool, all three are shining, leaving questions around the decision for Chelsea to let them go in the first place.

Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp however feels the Blues can only regret one sale, and that is De Bruyne who is pulling strings in the middle of the park for Pep Guardiola’s side.

When he left Chelsea, Salah must have questioned whether he was good enough to play at the top level. After thriving in Italy he has returned as one of the most exciting forwards in our league.

Three high-profile ex-Chelsea players scored on Saturday – Salah, Romelu Lukaku and Kevin De Bruyne. The club have been criticised for letting them go but De Bruyne – now the Premier League’s best player – can be their only real regret.
