Eden Hazard set to miss Belgium’s next friendly due to injury concerns

Chelsea’s star forward Eden Hazard has suffered a minor injury during the international break.

The Belgium international got a few heavy knocks to his feet against Mexico on Thursday evening, and could be set to miss the national team’s upcoming friendly against Japan on Tuesday.

Belgian football journalist Kristof Terreur reports that Hazard was ruled out of the team training this morning. So, instead of joining up with the rest of the squad, the 26-year-old was training individually.

Hazard captained the side and scored the opening goal in Belgium’s 3-3 draw against the Mexicans.

The former Lille man’s injury is not the only fitness issue for a Chelsea player this break. England’s Gary Cahill suffered a heavy knock which ruled him out of the Three Lions’ friendly against Germany. Hazard’s countryman Michy Batshuayi was also sent back to Cobham after injuring his foot.

Luckily David Luiz, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Alvaro Morata are all in route of recovering in time for Chelsea’s Premier League tie against West Bromwich next Saturday. Hazard should be among that bunch, but there’s currently no confirmation of his return date.
