Mason Mount had Chelsea tongues wagging this week with a standout performance for his loan side Vitesse against Roman side Lazio.
Lazio weren’t playing their strongest team, but they are still a side full of quality senior players, most of whom have significantly more top flight experience than Mount, who is in his first season in the man’s game.

According to this tweet, Mount’s 8 chances created in the match is a record in the still relatively young competition.
Having been unable to break into the first team in the league, this season looked like it might end up being a frustrating one for the youngster. If he’s given more chances in the first team thanks to impressing with this game, we can all look kindly on the Europe League for the first time in a while.
The team from Arnhem have a league game against Den Haag later today. Let’s hope Mason gets a chance to build on his midweek performance.
