Chelsea planning swoop for Borussia Dortmund contract rebel

Chelsea could be set to make a fresh offer for Borussia Dortmund star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The Gabonese striker has snubbed a new contract at the Bundesliga side, according to Italian news site Calcio Mercatoand is attracting strong interest from European bigger sides.

The Blues would still need to make a very good offer to convince Aubameyang to join them instead of his former side AC Milan, who are also keeping tabs on the 28-year-old.

Dortmund rejected all of Milan’s offers for the player in the summer, and Aubameyang hasn’t hidden his regret of not returning to San Siro.

Chelsea could still be tempted to make an offer for Aubameyang due to the departure of Diego Costa and Alvaro Morata’s injury issues. Michy Batshuayi is also seen as no more than a back-up striker by the manager Antonio Conte.

Should Aubameyang really end up at Chelsea in the winter, he wouldn’t be able to play for the Blues in the Champions League, having already featured for Dortmund in the elite European competition.
