Chelsea could lose Antonio Conte to AC Milan next summer as Italian manager hints at exit

AC Milan plan to swoop for Antonio Conte next summer after Calciomercato reported the Italian giants intend to sack head coach Vincenzo Montella following poor results.

Milan lie seventh in the Serie A league table after poor performances in the Italian top flight this season. With only 12 points, nine adrift off leaders Juventus, Milan plan to change direction.

The five-time Champions League winners plan to install Gennaro Gattuso as a stop-gap coach before pouncing on Chelsea for their head coach.

Gattuso, 39, is the current head coach of the Primavera team, Milan’s youth team, and would be brought into the senior team if Montella is sacked, according to the story by Calciomercato.

With Conte’s contract having only just over a year to go, Milan believe they can convince him to return to Italy next summer.

The former Juventus manager recently revealed he may be ready to return to his native land earlier than expected. as quoted by the Radio Anch’io Sport in Italy.

I have a longing for Italy, that’s beyond any doubt.

It’s not in my head to stay abroad for too long. It’s good to have beautiful experiences, but I intend to go back to Italy one day.
