Injured Pedro out of Chelsea Premier League opener

Chelsea will miss Pedro in their squad in their Premier League opener against Burnley on Saturday.

The Spanish forward was initially feared to be set to miss the game against Burnley following the red card he received against Arsenal in teh FA Community Shield.

He was sent off in the second half after a late tackle on Mohamed El Nenny which led to Arsenal’s equalizer in the game.

However, Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has revealed another reason he misses the game, being an ankle injury he picked up against the Gunners.

Pedro is not available because he is suffering from an injury he picked up in the Arsenal game (last week) and he wasn’t able to recover, it’s a knock on his ankle

Pedro’s inability to recover from the injury means Conte may start Alvaro Morata on the left hand side of attack while sticking with Michy Batshuayi upfront.

Morata had been tried in that position during preseason when Eden Hazard and Pedro were both out with injury.

Other players tested in the supporting roles behind the main striker have been youngsters Charly Musonda and Jeremie Boga, who impressed immensely against Arsenal in a preseason game against Arsenal.
