Kurt Zouma could be ready to play his first competitive 90 minutes since February

Chelsea fans have been counting down to this moment since the moment they saw Kurt Zouma stretchered off against Manchester United with a bad injury.

The centre-back has been through a long recovery from the knee injury, and has recently appeared in two games for Chelsea’s U23 “development squad”.

Zouma played 45 minutes against Derby for the U23s last week, before getting 60 minutes against Everton alongside Marco Van Ginkel last night.

This steady increase in minutes means that next Tuesday’s Checkatrade Trophy game against Oxford United will come along at the perfect time to give the French defender 90 minutes – or close to it.

This is cause for great celebration among Chelsea fans, who love Zouma and are excited to see how he fits into Antonio Conte’s back three.

Chelsea did not concede a league goal in the month of October, and Zouma may find it tougher to break back into the side than he would have done a month ago.
