Brazilian duo are Chelsea’s dominant creative force

We have reached the stage in the season where the Premier League table actually begins to mean something, and the same can be said for the individual statistics or players who play in the league.

Chelsea’s quarter season mark produces plenty of interesting statistical reading. For example in terms of creativity, there are two Brazilians who stand out.

Oscar and Willian, who most Blues fans would agree have been solid if unspectacular this season, dominate the charts when it comes to key passes. Willian is way out ahead with 3 per game, while Oscar comes in second with 2.2. This goes to show how much unheralded creative work they are actually doing.

The third placed player is Eden Hazard with just 1.9.

Despite this, the Brazilian pair only have one assist between them. This is a disappointing return given Diego Costa’s goalscoring form, and is a reminder of how far Chelsea have to go in creating a truly dominant attacking force.
