Match Preview – Arsenal vs. Chelsea

Match Preview

It has been a gruelling week of fixtures for Chelsea this week but it doesn’t stop there for the Blues, as they prepare for a trip to north London this weekend, where Antonio Conte will come up against Arsene Wenger for the first time in his Chelsea reign.

The ‘individual’ Jose Mourinho’s touchline antics have been the main attention of this fixture in recent year, but this will not be the case this time out as the football will be the immersion for the spectators. Conte has spoken about his admiration of Wenger in this afternoon’s press conference, stating that it is fantastic for a manager to remain at a club as long as his opponent has, instead of making a sly and unnecessary dig like a certain someone.

Both sides will be full of confidence after their EFL cup victories during the week and will look to capitalise on each others weaknesses, therefore producing an incredible spectacle for the present observers and those who watch the game live on television.

Match Details:

Saturday 24th September 2016, Emirates Stadium, 17:30pm (BST), BT Sports 1.

One To Watch:

Granit Xhaka – The Swiss international has got off to an impressive start to his Arsenal career and will look to continue his form against Chelsea this weekend. His ball playing ability and his eye for goal could cause the travelling side’s defence an extensive amount of pressure alongside his team-mates Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez. Xhaka has already shown his ability from a distance against Hull and Nottingham Forest, therefore the defence and midfield will need to remain on their toes if they want to nullify any potential threat. The 23-year-old is an enforcer in the middle and is not afraid to put his body on the line to attain possession for his side.

Predicted XI:

Courtois; Azpilicueta, Cahill, Luiz, Alonso; Kante; Willian, Oscar, Fabregas, Hazard; Costa.

Score Prediction:

Arsenal 1-2 Chelsea.
