Chelsea complete Eduardo Carvalho signing

It is officially announced that Chelsea have completed the signing of Portuguese international goalkeeper Eduardo Carvalho on a one-year deal from Dinamo Zagreb.

The 33-year-old was a part of the history making Portugal squad that beat France in their own backyard to win the 2016 European Championship. Although he failed to make an appearance, he still received a medal for the momentous occasion.

The Portuguese goalkeeper confirmed his departure from the Croatian champions after helping the Zagreb reach the group stages of the UEFA Champions League, and has now completed his move to Stamford Bridge.

He told Chelsea’s official website how glad he is to have joined the club and to have this opportunity in a club like ours:

Having the opportunity to come to the Premier League and to Chelsea, to such a big club, it is an easy decision to make.

For me this is the best and the most difficult league and it is another level from where I have been until now. So it is a new challenge, at this moment I feel very good, so I am ready for this.

All the colleagues I have always say the dream is to come to the Premier League, where there are the best clubs and the best players, and the opportunity to come here arrived at this moment.

I am happy to be here and I hope I meet the expectations people have for me.

The goal stopper was the first choice for his country at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, conceding just one goal in four matches. He has made 35 international appearances, and will now join the two other international keepers, Thibaut Courtois and Asmir Begovic at West London.
