Chelsea ‘in talks’ to make stunning 80m double signing

Antonio Conte is yet to arrive for his new job at Stamford Bridge, but the main targets to recover from Chelsea’s disappointing title defence have already been identified.

Last summer’s transfer window was a blow for the club, which led to Chelsea falling behind from the other Premier League clubs, only being able to sign Barcelona star Pedro, Stoke goalie Asmir Begovic for Courtois’s back-up, and Manchester United flop Radamel Falcao.

According to Goal, the current Azzurri coach is determined to bolster the Blues attack by signing last season’s Serie A top goalscorer Gonzalo Higuain and midfield dynamo Radja Nainggolan.

The Roma midfielder is understood to be in talks with the West London club ahead of a proposed £30m move, despite him publicly stating to stay in Italy after the summer.

Nainggolan is first concentrating on the Euro 2016 with Belgium starting in less than two weeks, but could be then looking for a move away from the Italian outfit as a transfer to Chelsea would definitely earn him a pay-rise compared to his current deal with Roma.

With Diego Costa’s future at the club still uncertain, Conte is sure to be hunting for another quality striker ahead of next season.

Chelsea have been strongly linked with a move for the Argentine striker Higuain and Juventus forward Alvaro Morata, who recently publicly admitted being tempted by a move to the Premier League.

Conte has made the Napoli forward his primary target this transfer window, and is planning to break a new British transfer record ahead of activating the former Real Madrid striker’s £74m release clause.

Chelsea are also looking for reinforce to the defence, as the Blues skipper John Terry is likely to step back from the starting line-up with his new contract at the club.
