Simeone tells Atletico he will be the new Chelsea manager

Atletico Madrid’s manager Diego Simeone has told the club officials he’ll be the new Chelsea manager this summer.

The Express reports that the Argentinian has reached an agreement with the Premier League side’s board with a £9.28m-a-year deal.

Chelsea are not keen to keep the interim manager Guus Hiddink at the club over next season, as Roman Abramovich is looking for a long-term replacement for José Mourinho who was sacked in December.

Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri and Italy national team coach Antonio Conte have also been favoured to take over at Stamford Bridge, but the most recent rumours suggest Simeone to start the West London club’s new era.

Chelsea owner Abramovich though has told to be ‘unsure’ about the style of football Simeone plays, and that he wouldn’t prefer to the 45-year-old.

Diego Simeone’s Atletico is currently second in the league and will play against PSV on the round-of-16 in the Champions League.
