Dynamo Kyiv 0-0 Chelsea – Match Report

Tonight Chelsea played their Champions League match away to Dynamo Kyiv at 7:45 (GMT).

Penalty: Chelsea should have been given a penalty when Fabregas was tripped in the box and was denied a goalscoring opportunity, but it was not given. Had this penalty was given it would have changed the whole outlook of the game and would have given us more of a hunger for us to go on and win the game.

Chelsea looked much stronger and more solid in defence with the addition of Zouma playing alongside Terry, Cahill and Azpilicueta. The ‘blanket’ offered by the midfield was much more like what we had last season, which gave Cahill and Terry the ultimate protection. Begovic pulled off some great saves as usual, proving his a great replacement for Courtois until he is back from injury, the defence seemed to all work well together.

The midfield looked much more solid and Matic put in one of the best performances that I have seen him play this season. Fabregas was another to step his game up and looked good in front of goal, he showed that he was willing and able to get in to the right positions with or without the ball. Hazard was looking back to his confident best covering alot of ground during the game. Overall our midfield looked to the point it was at the end of last season and was much improved from last week.

Willian hit the cross-bar and Hazard also got close a few times, their keeper played well and we were very unlucky not to score. Ramires also looked good and could continue in midfield as he also connected and worked well with the rest of the team. Oscar came on for Fabregas, he looked confident and prepared to run and chase for the ball.

Diego Costa also had a good game always being involved with any chance at goal and was reminiscent of last season also. Hopefully this will be start of us starting to win games again both in the Champions League and Premier League.
