Romelu Lukaku has risked the wrath of Everton fans up and down the country after revealing to The Sun his ambitions to go and play for a ‘top club’ again after leaving Chelsea at the start of the season.
Lukaku only joined Everton on a permanent move last summer after a successful loan spell, but he has failed to hit the mark with 7 goals in 24 appearances, less than half of what he scored last season.
The forward enjoyed a warm reception at Stamford Bridge midweek and spoke about his desire to play for a club like that again.
“It was brilliant to play at Chelsea and I had a good reception,” he said.
They know I’m a good player but that I want to develop so I can eventually get back to playing for a club like Chelsea.
“I don’t have a secret ambition to rejoin — there are other clubs in the world. I just want to grow as a player and eventually arrive at a top club again.”
