Jose asks for more technology

Jose Mourinho has stated that he would like the use of technology in The Premier League expanded. He said during a surprise appearance on Goals On Sunday yesterday.

If the referee cannot see a penalty three meters in front of him, an official in front of a screen cannot miss it

“If we want to protect the integrity and honesty of the referees, if we want to believe – and I believe that the mistake is the consequence of a misinterpretation, of a bad position, of the unpredictability of the situation and of the game – I think technology can help.”

These comments underline his firm belief that Chelsea have not had the rub of the green on many occasions this season, and that we should be 12 points ahead of City instead of 5 – due to the fact that we should have been awarded penalties against Southampton & Tottenham.

If I was a referee I would welcome it. It’s the same with goal-line technology: it makes a difference.

So, has the introduction of goal-line technology improved The Premier League? Debatable – but what it has done is make it fairer. It has eliminated human error. This is what Mourinho is asking for.
