Scholes: Chelsea are far from being a great team

Former Manchester United midfielder, Paul Scholes who has won 25 trophies with his club feels Jose Mourinho’s side will be considered a great team when they start winning trophies.

Jose Mourinho said last week that Chelsea is such a great team and is very different from last year. The comments made by Paul Scholes add to what Roy Keane said earlier this week about Jose’s comments, describing them as “nonsense”.

Paul Scholes works as pundit and also write columns for the Independent newspaper. He worked on Tuesday night and admitted he was very surprised to hear Jose’s Mourinho comments about his team.

Great teams have to win trophies first, which means that Chelsea have had a great team when they won back-to-back league titles, but they are still a long way off it now.

Paul Scholes was really disappointed to see Chelsea draw 1-1 at the Parc des Princes on Tuesday night, and following the comments made by the Special one, he was expecting much more from Chelsea, but felt they lacked of creativity

I recognise that Paris Saint-Germain have an excellent home record in Europe. Even so, I expected Chelsea to create more chances against them this week. They had one attempt on goal, Branislav Ivanovic’s header that went in. Barcelona or Real Madrid might not have beaten PSG but they would have had more than one shot on goal.

Chelsea will play the second leg of the last 16, at Stamford Bridge on March 11, and Chelsea have the slight advantage of having scored an away goal but this isn’t enough as Scholes expects a tough game for the Blues.

I wouldn’t rule PSG out for the second leg, especially if Zlatan Ibrahimovic decides he fancies it. I think they will score at least one at Stamford Bridge.
