Chelsea fail to make chances pay in disappointing 0-0 draw
Chelsea continued a mixed Christmas period with a lacklustre performance against Everton at Goodison Park.
A 0-0 draw was just about fair result in a game that didn’t have too much free flowing attacking play. Chelsea certainly had the better of the chances, with two goalline stops in the first half from Phil Jagielka ultimately proving decisive in a tight encounter.
Eden Hazard was the sole bright light for the Blues, creating all of his side’s chances and powering through right to the end despite rough treatment from the home side.
Ashley Williams headed a cross onto his own goalframe in the second half and Jordan Pickford made some good saves as Antonio Conte’s side looked to batter their way past a determined Toffee defence.
In the end it wasn’t enough however, and a point is all that Chelsea bring back to London. A game against Brighton at the Bridge is up next on Boxing Day.
