Mourinho: Costa injury update

UPDATE: Diego Costa has been withdrawn from the Spanish squad with a hamstring injury.

Mourinho confirmed yesterday that Costa has sustained a hamstring injury. He pulled up towards the end of the game and was substituted for Remy. Mourinho also said that he could miss our next game at home to Stoke after the international break.

“It’s a hamstring injury. When a striker is playing, the team needs a goal to win the game and he says it’s over for him, it’s over. He tried to play the Champions League final with Atletico and was injured, he has that fragility, we know his hamstring is not a strong one.”

He works hard in the week to compensate for the weakness he has there but the injury can come. We have Remy and Drogba, we never cry about injured players so let’s move on.

Costa’s injury means is likely to pull out of the Spanish squad, however Costa has said he intends to travel to Madrid where he will be checked out by the Spanish national team doctors and then they will decide whether to withdraw him from the squad or not.
