Jose won’t be drawn on Arsenal record

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has called on his players to focus on their Community Shield game against Arsenal and not focus on their fine record against their rivals.

The Blues will face their north London counterparts in the curtain raiser of the Premier League after Chelsea won the title last season while Arsenal triumphed in the FA Cup.

Mourinho however, has refused to focus on his record against Arsenal, having not lost against Arsene Wenger’s Gunners in 13 matches.

I just want my teams, my clubs to try to get the best possible results. That’s the only thing that matters. Doesn’t matter Arsenal, doesn’t matter the manager. In football you can win or lose or draw. In this case you have to be ready for everything.

I never made my victories over Arsenal an explosion of happiness or special pride. I will not make a drama if one day we lose. But we always try to play for a result and the Community Shield has a motivation, obviously different than just a friendly or just a summer tournament. I would say it’s the start of the competition.

Mourinho also remained unfazed about facing his former No 1.

I did it already. Inter against Chelsea. No problem.
