Eden Hazard declares himself fit to face Spurs

Chelsea star Eden Hazard fully expects to be fit for Chelsea’s weekend clash with London rivals Tottenham.

The Belgian picked up a knock to his ankle during his sides midweek international fixture against the Ivory Coast, which they drew 2-2. Hazard has been a key performer for the Blues this season and his side are currently top of the Premier League.

Hazard came on just after the hour mark but was caught by Chieck Tiote on his arrival, his absence for any period would be a huge blow to Mourinho’s side but speaking to Het Laatste Hazard has insisted he should be fit for the Tottenham clash.

“It hurt but I think I can play this weekend. After 20 seconds I got a kick. A nice welcome, but I’m not worried about the injury.”

The necessity of these international fixtures has again been raised in the wake of the potential injury to Hazard and comes in the wake of the news that Jack Wilshere has been ruled out for up to six weeks with a hairline fracture of the foot.

Many have argued that in a World Cup year and at such a crucial time in the Premier League calendar these fixtures are nothing more of a hinderance and an unnecessary risk.
