Don’t tarnish us all with the same brush

Racism is a subject I feel very strongly about, and I’d like to discuss it. After the events on Tuesday night last in Paris, where Chelsea fans horribly abused a man both physically and verbally because of his race, many stereotypes are being made about all us Chelsea fans.

The stereotypes being made about ALL Chelsea fans are disappointing. Constant posts on social media websites are labelling all of us true fans as racists, and I don’t believe we should stand by and take it. Calling those racists in Paris idiots would be an understatement, their actions were appalling and completely ignorant regarding modern society.

“We’re racist and that’s the way we like it” – no thank you.

I agree with all comments being made about how idiotic and horrific their actions and words were, but I do not wish to be labelled as a racist myself, simply for being a dedicated supporter of Chelsea Football Club.

Didier Drogba, Claude Makelele, John Obi Mikel, Ramires – players who have devoted years to our beautiful club. Kurt Zouma, Charly Musonda – possibly the future of our club. Do you think players like these would be happy playing for our club knowing that our fans are racist and that we do not accept them? Absolutely not.

Such players have and will play a major part in Chelsea’s admirable success, but with such racist remarks being made by fans, our club will sink in terms of reputation and international desirability.  Racist actions and remarks , both within and outside the football world should never be tolerated.

It’s 2015 and some people still believe that others should be discriminated against because of their differences, unbelievable.  The group of morons in Paris, and ALL fans participating in anything racist should be identified and receive the maximum punishment available.

I fully support and admire Chelsea Football Club’s decision to come out and make a statement regarding the whole event, it was very inspiring. The club wishes to seek out those involved and severely punish their actions.

If it were me, I’d impose a lifetime ban from attending all football matches, as well as a massive fine, and a prison sentence if possible. Everyone needs to come to their senses and realize that there are consequences to such horrendous actions.

I do not wish to see my club’s reputation being under threat because of pathetic fans who are too blind to accept diversity and the uniqueness of all human beings.

I am beyond angry about their actions, but I’m just as angry about the comments being made about all Chelsea fans being racist. I for one would never do or say such nasty things. Accepting people for who they are is what creates balance and diversity in the world. If you stereotype against all Chelsea fans and call us all racist, then you are prejudging , and sadly, you’re not much better than the racists themselves.

I truly hope the ‘fans’ involved are identified as soon as possible and the club as a whole can resolve the problem. The likes of Chelsea’s Building Bridges campaign are doing excellent work in the struggle for equality.

We are unique. We are different. We are who we are. Accept it.
