Costa & Cahill ‘available’ for Wembley clash

Jose Mourinho has declared Gary Cahill and Diego Costa ‘available’ for Sunday’s Community Shield clash with London rivals Arsenal.

The two were both left frustrated after leaving the pitch early in Wednesday morning’s fixture with Barcelona, after Gary Cahill suffering a broken nose, and Diego Costa was pulled off amidst fears of his recurring hamstring problem; the latter a bigger threat to Chelsea’s title challenge going into the new season.

However, both regular starters are considered ‘available’ by the Chelsea boss, who spoke to the media today ahead of what Mourinho considers to be ‘more than a friendly, but less than a Premier League match’ on Sunday.

The big decision now will be whether or not to risk the two so close to the season opener against Swansea on the 8th of August.

The Blues are well equipped if Jose decides to rest the two, with Kurt Zouma having a fantastic pre-season, and both Loic Remy and Falcao looking sharp in the minutes they’ve been given on the pitch.
