Chelsea Player Awards – Hazard wins the double

Eden Hazard had a memorable night at the Chelsea player awards last night, as he added 2 more personal awards to his collection.

Hazard claimed his first award of the night after the Chelsea squad had voted him Chelsea Players’ Player of the Year. A little later on he was back on stage to collect another award, Chelsea Player of the Year. Hazard was a worthy winner of both awards as this season he has proved he’s in the world class bracket after putting in some amazing performances.

Hazard revealed how thankful and proud he was about winning these two awards:

“The season was fantastic, not only for me but for the team. We won two trophies and I got a lot of individual awards. I just want to say thank you to my teammates because they work for me. We respect each other. We are good friends. Everybody likes each other and that’s why we won the league.”

Kurt Zouma also won a personal award, as he was presented with Chelsea Young Player of the Year. Zouma has put in some excellent performances this year, Man City at home being the most memorable. He certainly has a bright future at Chelsea and could even become a legend.

Zouma: “I want to say thank you to the fans, thank you for everything… I hope we will win more titles next season.”

Dominic Solanke won Chelsea Academy Player of the Year. This season Solanke has scored 41 goals for the academy teams and he has made his senior debut, coming on in the Champions League late in the second half against Maribor.
Solanke: “I have to keep working hard and see how far I can go.”

There was also a nice tribute to the late Lord Attenborough as he won the Special Recognition award. He put a lot of hard work into the club and was a club director during the 1970s and a decade he later helped keep Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Finally Oscar’s stunning curling effort vs QPR at home won Chelsea goal of the season. Fabregas laid the ball onto him and he hit the ball first time with the outside of his foot into the far corner.

Oscar: “It was a beautiful goal and a beautiful assist from Cesc. I am so happy to win this award”
