Chelsea face striker crisis ahead of Arsenal clash

Chelsea could be without a recognised striker when they line up to face Arsenal in the Premier League on Sunday as Didier Drogba struggles with an ankle injury.

The Ivorian started against Manchester United on Sunday due to injuries suffered by Diego Costa and Loic Remy, both of whom are expected to face late fitness tests ahead of the heavyweight clash at the Emirates.

Chelsea can all but confirm their status as Premier League champions by the end of the weekend; a win against their London rivals would leave them within three points of the title.

However, if Chelsea’s striking trio fail to pull through for the top-of-the-table clash, the Blues may struggle to overcome the FA Cup finalists.

Dom Solanke was on the bench last weekend but the Chelsea boss is surely unlikely to field the 17-year old from the start in a game of such magnitude on Sunday afternoon.

Didier Drogba confirmed that he was forced to pull out of a charity match due to an ankle injury, which has already seen him ruled out for periods of this season.

Mourinho said last Friday that Diego Costa would resume training with the Chelsea first-team this week following another hamstring injury.
