Cech ready to move on

Speculation has been heightening since the return of Thibaut Courtois from Atletico Madrid in the summer, but it appears the end of this season may finally bring closure to Petr Cech’s long and illustrious Chelsea career.

Sky Sports broke the news earlier today that Petr Cech had admitted he may well leave the Blues this summer, as another season as Thibaut Courtois’ understudy was unforeseeable.

I don’t know what the club’s idea will be. It looks like it works well with me and Thibaut as a duo, but that can work for one season only. I don’t want another one like this.

Asked on his plans for next season, the Czech international claimed he would not think about the future until the end of the season.

There always will be speculation, I leave it for the summer.

‘It will be important to sit down with the club, with the manager to consider all the pros and cons. We will see what will work out the best.

[On a possible move to Madrid] When a specific offer comes I will consider it. There are offers one cannot turn down.’

Cech has only started four Premier League games this season as the rise of one of European’s most promising keepers has kept the 32-year-old out of the side.

The keeper, who joined Chelsea in 2004, enjoyed a decade of accomplishments and record-breaking performances, as well as three Premier League titles, four FA Cups, three League Cups and of course two vital saves in the penalty shootout of the Champions League to finally secure Abramovich’s holy grail.

But it appears now that this could be the end of the road for Cech’s life in West London.
