(Video): Chelsea players took major risk with actions at full time

Chelsea had a last minute goal ruled out by VAR last night and you could see how much it hurt them. They thought they’d turned the game around from 2-0 down, and it would have been a glorious moment. Instead, VAR decided the ref should take another look at what he had just seen and ruled ok.

Their players surrounded the referee at full time in disbelief. Other players and members of staff came in to save them from themselves.

It was a gentle push on Diego Carlos, but he really made the most of it. There were plenty of Villa players around the ref too to defend their case.

Noni Madueke was angriest of all – we’ve not seen him like this since he wasn’t allowed to take a penalty. He wagged his finger in the ref’s face and good a booking for his troubles. At least it’s nice to see him caring.

But both he and Benoit Badiashile put themselves at serious risk with their anger here. A red or a retroactive ban could easily have been applied if their teammates and coaches hadn’t pulled them away.
