Chelsea face Sheffield United at Bramall Lane in just under an hour, and the teams are in!
After an intense week of games we expected some changes, and we’ve got them.
Trevoh Chalobah and Thiago Silva come into the back line to replace Benoit Badiashile and Malo Gusto. We suspect that it will be Axel Disasi shifted to right back, but it could well be Chalobah playing there while Silva partners Disasi in the middle.
In midfield, Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo play another game together, with Conor Gallagher in his usual role just ahead of them. We were sure one of those three would be rested, but Mauricio Pochettino is gambling on squeezing one more drop of juice from the trio.
Then in the front 3, Mykhailo Mudryk is dropped for Noni Madueke.
Carney Chukwuemeka is fit and on the bench and can feel hard done by that he hasn’t earned a start. But with Pochettino surely keen to get as many of his usual midfield and attack subbed off in the second half, we’re sure we will see Carney around the hour mark if all goes well.
As always when we play a weaker side in the middle of a busy period, we’re praying we can bag a couple early, slow the game down and makes changes in the second half. Sadly, things are never quite that simple, especially when you defend like we’ve been defending…
